Staphylococcus aureus is the main culprit behind Staph infection. The basic symptoms of Staph Infection can vary depending on the area of the body which has been affected by Staph infection and the severity of the infection. The minor symptoms of this infection are mild red inflammation in the skin but there could also be complex health symptoms when this infection enters the Endocarditic level. Here the patient’s lining of the patient’s heart valve gets infected and the patient may face life risk failure too. A few of the symptoms found in this infection are as follows-

Different Types of Skin Infections

A person suffering from Staph skin infection would exhibit the following symptoms in his skin which are:

Boils- A Staph infection begins with pus like formation at the base of a hair follicle or oil gland. Then the whole affected area becomes inflamed and reddish in color. When the boil breaks open it oozes amber colored liquid and this liquid could be very contagious in the initial stage. These boil occur in the buttock area or under the arm.

Symptoms Of Staph InfectionImpetigo- Impetigo occurs in the nose and mouth area of children and infants. Large blisters are formed on the skin and pus is formed which is honey in color, Impetigo is very contagious and care should be taken to prevent other people from getting affected with this infection.

Cellulitis-When you suffer from Cellulitis you would have swelling and red inflammation in your skin. Cellulitis usually occurs in elderly people and in lower areas of your leg. Large ulcers may develop in the infected area and it may be full of pus.

Staphylococcal scalded skin syndrome- This skin infection occurs among newborns and the small baby has rash, high fever and blisters in skin. The blisters make it very painful for the newborns.


On a few occasions the Staphylococcus aureus bacterium gets into normal food we eat. Then the food gets contaminated and when we consume the food the bacteria enters our bloodstream. The first symptoms of Staph Infection known as Bactermia are high fever. As the blood enters various areas of patients body the basic organs of the body gets infected and the patient would show a few symptoms like nausea, diarrhea, body cramps and even dehydration.

Toxic shock-syndrome

This condition occurs in Staph infection when there are toxins in the body due to surgical infections. This infection starts with suddenly with high fever and followed nausea, aches in the muscles, rashes in your palms, headaches, seizures and septic arthritis in the joints of the patient’s body.

When do you need to see the doctor?

Staph infection needs to be arrested immediately. If you see basic symptoms like high fever with areas in the body having rashes and inflammation in the skin, it would be a good idea to contact the doctor immediately. The doctor would check the symptoms and administer the necessary medication immediately. The infection would be contained and the patient would receive some relief too.
